Wolmanized® Outdoor® Wood

Wolmanized® Outdoor® Wood

Wolmanized® Outdoor® Wood combines the natural beauty of real wood with long-lasting resistance to termites and fungal decay. It is protected with copper azole preservative. The wood is ideal for decks, retaining walls, fences, picnic tables, planter boxes, walkways, sill plate and structural members. Copper azole-treated wood, at appropriate retention levels, can be used for above ground, ground contact, and freshwater immersion applications. It is presently not recommended for saltwater immersion.

Copper is the primary ingredient, protecting against termites and most fungal decay. Protection against copper-tolerant fungi is provided by a combination of synergistic azoles (Type C).

Features & benefits

What is Wolmanized® Outdoor® Wood?

  • Wood protected by Copper Azole Type C preservative from Lonza Wood Protection, pioneer of copper azole technology
  • Renders wood useless as a food source for termites and fungi, thus prolonging the life of the wood

Active ingredients:

  • Recycled copper (protects against termites and fungal decay)
  • Two synergistic, carbon-based azoles (protect against certain copper-tolerant fungi)
  • Formulation now enhanced with BARamine® technology, making it the most effective copper azole system available

What BARamine® Technology Adds to the Wood

Patented technology is the most effective copper azole system available. Additional active ingredient provides:

  • Boosts existing Copper Azole preservation
  • Improved penetration equals better protection thus reducing potential for failures
  • More consistent preservative distribution for better performing treated wood
  • Improved resistance to certain aggressive copper-tolerant fungi reduces likelihood of rot
  • Broad moldicide protection for brighter, cleaner looking wood

Use Locations and Applications

  • Versatile and can be used in any application
  • Structural deck components such as joists, beams and ledger boards
  • Walkways
  • In contact with or within 6” of the ground or fresh water
  • In critical locations and locations that are difficult to repair or replace
  • In certain physically above ground uses with harsher conditions (moisture, debris)
  • Other backyard projects such as gazebos, retaining walls, raised bed gardens

What kind of fasteners should I use?

  • Use hot-dipped galvanized fasteners (meeting ASTM A 153) and connectors (ASTM A 653 Class G185 sheet), or better. Aluminum should not be used in direct contact with this wood. Screws hold boards securely and allow for easier removal.

How long to wait until I apply paint / stain?

  • Before applying a paint or stain, allow wood to dry thoroughly (at least 60 days). Follow the recommendations of the coating’s manufacturer.

Maintenance

  • To help maintain a beautiful appearance, apply water repellent every other year. To revitalize a dingy appearance caused by dirt and mildew, use a deck cleaner.

End cuts

  • Do not put end cuts into ground. Cover upper ends of posts with post caps or cut them at angles to shed water. Coat cut ends with topical wood preservative such as Copper-Green Wood Preservative.

Can I burn it?

  • No. Dispose of in normal trash collection.
